CM 201-U partners with Northern Illinois Food Bank, United Way of Will County and Catholic Charities to provide support to families in the district this holiday season!

Crete-Monee Middle School students Lashawn Langford and Tahir Williams are joined by Ms. Lisa Teslow and Mr. Evan Lukowski, Crete-Monee Middle School teachers and student government sponsors; Ms. Archana Liggins, Northern Illinois Food Bank Area Agency Specialist; and Ms. Stephanie Ambrose Mobile Food Pantry Supervisor from Catholic Charities. The students joined their classmates, members of the staff, district administration and Board of Education in packing and distributing food baskets to over 70 families on Friday, December 15th. Kudos to the Crete-Monee Middle School Student Government for also making a $100 donation to the Northern Illinois Food Bank!

“This is what it means to care for your community and be a good citizen,” said Board President Jennifer A. Gasbarro. “We are so proud of our students who want to give back to their communities and appreciative of our community partners who provide opportunities for them to do so,” she added.

President & CEO of United Way of Will County, Mr. Mike Hennessey, is joined by CM 201-U Asst. Superintendent of Business, Ken Surma. United Way of Will County provided the funding to Catholic Charities in order to provide the Mobile Food Pantry on Friday evening in partnership with the Northern Illinois Food Bank (NIFB). Special thanks to UW for recruiting a team of volunteers from the Amazon Monee Center as well. The Mobile Food Pantry (24 Mobile Food Pantries this year) is an example of one of the 113 programs United Way of Will County is funding to benefit the residents of Will County!
